|The award-winning Barachois Inn is a family owned business which has been welcoming visitors from North America and abroad for more than twenty-five years. Recognized as a “Designated Heritage Place” in May 2011, the Barachois (pronounced Bara-a-shwa) is in the Canadian Register of Historic Places.
At the Barachois Inn, your vacation is our priority: our reputation for personalized service and our commitment to quality, our 5 Star luxury accommodations and our historic locale all contribute to a vacation you won’t soon forget. Our family was born and raised on Prince Edward Island and we have an intimate knowledge and feel for the Island at its best which we are eager to share with you.
Come, visit our special place and enjoy the “Barachois Experience”.
The Inn consists of two main houses, the Gallant House – built in 1880 by one of the area’s most successful merchants, Joseph Gallant – and the MacDonald House, a newer facility offering four large suites that bring a modern feel to a historic era. These two houses provide our guests with the choice of eight different styles of private accommodations from traditional Victorian rooms to luxury suites, with scenic vistas over the Island’s north shore, winding waterways and our Victorian Garden.
Our Signature Concierge Service:
Most accommodations offer generic concierge services, but the family run atmosphere at the Barachois Inn takes this convenient service further. We will assist you with formal planning such as dinner reservations, purchasing theatre tickets, reserving golf tee times and transportation but we can also go that extra step to offer suggestions not found in our Island tourism brochures, such as a romantic private beach, some of the more picturesque biking trails or a local event that is popular within the community.
Our Health Centre and In Room Spa Services:
Located on the lower level of the MacDonald House, the Health Centre provides our guests with a wonderful place to work out and relax while on vacation. Equipment includes: Universal gym, treadmill, rowing machine, exercise bikes, weights and sauna. In Room Spa Services are provided by an experienced therapist who has worked in several prestigious 5 Star hotel spas in Japan. Enhance your health and natural beauty with relaxing services that include Aromatherapy, Swedish massage, Reflexology, Thai massage, Facial, Reiki, Back & Head massage. * Option: Hot Stone Therapy.
We also provide a multi-course dining experience in the romantic Barachois Inn with Chef Kurt Ellis and his team, who specialize in on-site personal catering. Complete your stay at the Barachois Inn with a special evening meal prepared specially for you.
We are a short drive from a variety of excellent restaurants for fine dining, lunch, casual dining or traditional lobster suppers. We are happy to help you make your selections.
Our convenient location on the dune-lined Green Gables Shore offers a range of activities to explore from the outdoor activities at our north shore beaches, fishing villages and PEI’s National Park to theatre, music, galleries, shops and studios. Visit the Green Gables Heritage Place to immerse yourself in the landscape that inspired Anne of Green Gables or visit some of the best golf courses to be found on the Island, all within a 10-15 minute drive of the Inn. We are also within easy driving distance to Charlottetown.
